About Me

My name's Leah Hollrock. I'm a painter and bench jeweler living in Hadley, MA. I received my BFA in Studio Arts from UMass Amherst in 2012. I am currently working as the Studio Manager for a local jeweler in Northampton, MA. I also work out of my studio in Hadley creating the artwork you see on this site.

• I'm intrigued and haunted by the notion of passing time. • Love to use ants and moss as muses and metaphors. • Clustering versus isolation • "Beauty is like remembrance cast, From time long past" •

Aside from art and jewelry, I also love rock climbing, hiking, and collecting antique photographs.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or queries! I love hearing from you.

Artist's Statement

Time past, it is bittersweet: both beauty and decay. My most recent artwork is an attempt to capture the simultaneous joy, sadness, and angst one gets when looking back at time long past. Reflecting on days gone by can stir a whirlwind of emotions ranging from beautiful, nostalgic fondness to painful sorrow and remorse. But furthermore, amongst these various sentiments, there is often a nagging anxiety and uneasiness that is centralized around, not the individual memories – but a longing to regain just a portion of this time lost. It can be incredibly unsettling to become aware that our time is passing – rapidly and oftentimes carelessly. It is my own struggle with these mixed feelings that drives my most recent work.
